ECU Remapping is a fantastic way of unlocking your cars potential in terms of performance and economy aswell as an invaluable cost saving tool to eliminate expensive faults for an affordable price.
Affordable Prices:
Multiple deletes & options can be combined at the same price (excl. immo off & P&Bs). For example, an Adblue delete usually includes EGR and sometimes P code at no extra charge. A DPF delete can be piggy backed with EGR & P code for same price.
EGR valves commonly fail due to electrical position sensors or clog and stick. This will disable to valve and stop recurring engine management faults recurring.
Get you out of Limp Mode by disabling the DPF altogether stopping it regenerating and flagging faults.
For off-road vehicles, you should gut the physical DPF also.
Fixed a fault but the codes won't clear or ghost codes keep putting the EML on? P codes can be erased from the ECU to permanently stop it flagging up the fault in the ECU.
Adblue systems are expensive to repair and parts can have long lead times. Adblue disables to stop your vehicle counting down and shutting down, keeping you on the road.
Disable Lambda sensors and avoid expensive repairs. Not recommended on road-going Petrols as Lambda readings are used for engine management and will effect emissions.
Improve throttle response, get 5-10% better fuel economy, increased engine performance. Stage 1 remaps and ECO maps will pay for themselves in less than a year.
How long it takes & how is it done?
Reading an ECU depends on the vehicle. Some can be done via OBD and some I need to remove the ECU and connect to it directly in which case removing and refitting takes longer.
For ECUs that can be connected via OBD anywhere from 45minutes - 1.5hrs depending on read and write times. For removal usually 1hr - 2hrs. Where there is an Adblue delete, sometimes longer as some vehicles require the Adblue module and/or pump disconnecting.
It may also take longer where further adjustments to files is required. This is rare, but some vehicles, mostly Fords sometimes require adjustments of Checksums if the vehicle rejects the modification. Some Peugeots also need the vehicle locking and leaving for the ECUs to power down before starting the vehicle. All of which is very standard and of no concern.
Can all vehicles be modified?
In short, NO!
Most ECUs can, many cannot. Manufacturers often LOCK ECUs. Many have a workaround so this isn't an issue, but some don't. For example, Transit Custom SID212 hasn't been cracked by any tool supplier yet.
Also, different tool manufacturers have cracked different ECUs, so where my tool will not access your ECU but another tool will, I will refer you to another mapping supplier that might be able to assist instead.
